How to change how you react to your thoughts/emotions

⭐⭐⭐”Once you realize the true evolution of your mental problems, you’ll never blame any other living being for how you feel.” ⭐⭐⭐

Lama Zopa Rinpoche

Only you – yes only YOU can change your thoughts and is responsible of how you feel. People/ situations may trigger those thoughts, but never create them.

You can choose how you react to your thoughts/emotions. Not easy – yet possible.

How can you do that?

Here are some easy steps that can help:

First relax, detach, centre yourself again and focus.

Relax – notice the thought/ emotion that are there. Breathe and relax and see the thought as a cloud in the big blue, vast sky of your mind. Clouds come and go. The blue, vast sky is always there

Detach – detach yourself from the thought/emotion -imagine the cloud has disappeared fully

Centre – bring your awareness in your body at the navel area

Focus – how would you like to feel instead now? Name the word mentally that expresses that feeling. Breathe it in and breathe out the thought/emotion you do not want to have. Notice the shift of how you feel

Taking Mindfulness off the cushion

Today I attended the Mindful Living Show in London. I was asked to speak at the Experience Zone about the 16 Guidelines for Life, which is one of the courses facilitated by the the Foundation for Development for Compassion and Wisdom (FDCW).

Over the last few years, I attended the Level 1, 2 and 3 Training in the 16G and am now a worldwide accredited 16G facilitator and am occasionally invited to speak about the Training Pathway for 16G.

The FDCW had a stall too at the MLS, where I helped out a few hours too today, and the event had a great turnout. I found that the group of people who attended the Experience Zone 16G talk, engaged really actively and positively with the experiences I offered. The feedback I got was really constructive and I am really happy that it was an inspiring experience for the participants.

Besides being on the stall for FDCW as well today, I also had an opportunity to visit some of the stalls and attend some of the talks/workshops. It was such a great atmosphere at the show and I managed to find some great meditation cushions for my Yoga and Meditation Classes too. Another great experience was to meditate on a Resonance Plate – I had never tried this before and was asked at the MLS if I wanted to try it. I can see why people want to buy these tools for meditation as it really helped me to focus and to have a deep meditative experience. If you ever have a chance to try this yourself – I could highly recommend it.

I also was offered a sample kit from Atlantis Skincare – their stall got my attention due to a display of all the natural ingredients they use for their products, and even though there is not a low price tag on the products, considering how little creme I needed to feel the skin on my hands soften, I think it will be worth the investment.

As we all know by now, being Mindful goes of course much further than just sitting on a meditation cushion. To become aware of how you think, act and relate to life and to know that we have a choice in how we think, act and relate, will create a Mindful Way of Living. I find that this also effects what we eat. I prefer to eat no meat nowadays- which I will write some more about at some other time.

So tonight, I ended up going for a vegetarian Indian meal at this hidden gem called Indian Veg. For £7.95 I had a delicious buffet style meal and was inspired by all the quotes displayed on the walls of the restaurant. One of them mentioned: “No one got ever poor by giving”. They also feel the homeless for free, which I thought was such a compassionate and selfless ethos to work by.

Tomorrow is the second day of the MLS and I am really looking forward to it – if you are in London, or nearby, I can highly recommend this event.

Off to rest now. – Claudia

How to Meditate: Peaceful Mind, Loving Heart – Saturday 9 June 2018
with Margo van Greta

As our lives get more complicated, it seems we need more and more things to make us happy, but somehow we never really succeed. The simple truth eludes us, that happiness is a state of mind, not dependent on external objects. True, deep happiness lies within us and we can tap this great source through meditation.

During this day you will learn basic meditation techniques. You will learn the definition and purpose of meditation, how to sit properly, how to set up a meditation session, the different types of meditation techniques one may employ, and how to recognise and deal with obstacles to meditation.

We will practice different types of meditation, and have space for questions and discussion. We do some simple body work to help our body relax.
For beginners and beyond!

Margo van Greta is a pioneer of holistic spirituality, who brings in-depth Buddhist practices into our western culture.
Involved with the Dharma since 1987, Margo has studied and practised both in the East and the West. She received teachings from His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Lama Zopa Rinpoche, Khadrola, and attended Foundations of Buddhist Thought. She is an FPMT registered teacher for Discovering Buddhism and teaches evening classes and holds retreats like “Buddhism in a Nutshell”, “Meditation 101”, and “Discovering Buddhism”, Green Tara and Vajrasattva Purification retreats. She spends one month a year in retreat in Nepal or southern Spain. She is the founder of Togme Sangpo Buddhist Group, which she started in 2012 with the blessing of her main teacher Lama Zopa Rinpoche. Originally from the Netherlands she lives in the Findhorn Community in Moray, Scotland, since 1991 and loves nature.

Warm greetings with the very best wishes for 2018 to you!

The main story

I hope 2018 will be successful in so many ways for you! As I am so passionate about what I love doing and because I have seen such positive changes in people’s lives happening, I aim to continue to help you to create an extraordinary quality of life.

2017 was another very good year for Solution Ways – I am super grateful for being able to deliver the work that I love doing, and I thank you so much for working with me. It all has been fantastically rewarding and sometimes also quite challenging. I have been doing quite a lot of work with rather larger groups, using the solution focused progress plan for team- building in 2017. One of the team-building workshops I delivered, was at a beautiful retreat centre in London (Jamyang Buddhist Retreat Centre). I look forward to working with them again in March. I also want to give a HUGE thank you to the businesses and charities that have worked with me for over a few years now –  I thank YOU for your enthusiasm, dedicated work, and your trust in me. I especially want to thank Kerry Smith Architects, Montrose, for asking me back to deliver workshops in team-building and progress focused training, you guys absolutely rock and it shows! I also want to thank the charity Forget Me Not Club, Banchory, for allowing me to work with their staff, carers and service users for quite a few years now – I really appreciate all you do.

The Yoga programmes are a huge part of my life. It keeps the work/life aspect in balance for many people, including myself. I teach the Yoga and meditation classes at the Pilates Hut, Paul Lawrie Golf Centre, Inchmarlo, Banchory. Attending these classes are excellent for stress-management and are very helpful in maintaining a healthy body and mind. Feel free to discuss with me if you are thinking of joining and have any questions around this. Thanks so much everyone of you who join the weekly classes and retreats. It is such a pleasure passing on what I have learned on the yogic path and to witness you develop your own practice. I have found the more I practice, I seem to realise how much I still am learning. Every day is a new beginning for me too.

I also thank the teachers, especially Swami Samarpananda, Swami Omkarananda, Lama Zopa Rinpoche and Venerable Angie Muir for being so kind in giving support and spiritual advice in how to practise yoga, meditation and mindfulness and how to include this in training programmes.. Going to India in 2017 was one of the highlights for me and it has certainly deepened my understanding of yoga and meditation on many levels.

I continue to deliver the Solution Focused Talking Therapies, such as Life Coaching and the Business Coaching Programmes, all being in the solution focused approach. Bookings can be taking for appointments at The Banchory Health and Therapies Practice, Phone: 01330 825333.

The Solution Focused Wellbeing Plans are also still part of the team building in the corporate and third- sector programmes – these programmes help to prevent‘burn-out’, support the highest performance in the workplace and includes a toolkit in how to maintain a healthy state of wellbeing on the individual level.

With every best wish for a super healthy and joyous 2018,

Claudia

16 Guidelines Level 1: Toolkit for a Happy and Meaningful Life

16G tools logo

16G

Hi everyone – I am so excited to share the 16G workshop with you in Scotland! Ever since I did my 5 Tibetan Yogas teacher training with Dekyi Lee Oldershaw (10 years ago in January, time flies!) I have been integrating the 16G in my personal life. Dekyi Lee is the co-author of the 16G book and a board member of the Foundation of the Development of Compassion and Wisdom. A few years ago, I decided to take the Pathway to become a worldwide accredited facilitator for the 16G as I believe it is such a practical and hugely beneficial toolkit for life skills and am really serious in sharing what I know about it all.

I have invited you to this event to let you know that this event is happening on the 9th and 10th September in Findhorn, Scotland. If you are unable to attend, then please keep the 16G workshops in mind. I will organise more of the 16G workshops in the UK, and there are possibilities for Nepal and India also. The 16G is is a worldwide programme, hence I let some of my Nepalese and Indian friends know as some of you showed interest in the 16G for Leadership programmes.

If you are unable to attend this event could you please help me and share this event with your friends too? As always, I so appreciate your support as we continue to make a ripple in the big ocean to deliver a creative, compassionate and mindful education programme in the world.

With gratitude and kindness,
Claudia
